After experiencing her own set of trials in life, La’Brittany Hemphill wants people to know that it is possible to live again, even after experiencing unfavorable circumstances. Her book, Discovering Life after Death: A Woman’s Journey to Unlocking the Lioness Within, is a testimony of how she became an overcomer.

During her book release celebration on Jan. 4, 2020, La’Brittany recalls how losing both of her parents influenced the choices she began to make in life. “I died spiritually, mentally and physically, ” she said. “I was doing things to hurt myself, but I want other people to know that you can still live after you lose a loved one.” La’Brittany remembers a time when she thought that God was evil or punishing her, but now her perspective has changed. “We were taught that you are not supposed to question God,” she said. “But you can ask Him things and He is going to show you. I want people to understand that God is not a punisher. Death is a part of life, but you can still live.”

In addition to writing a book, La’Brittany decided to get certified as a life coach. “I got certified to be a life coach because my goal is to help young women, teens, and young girls,” she said. La’Brittany believes that peer pressure or even going off to college are stages where girls and young women need guidance, and she wants to be there for them. Wanting to help women overcome obstacles in life led La’Brittany to start her own coaching business, Leading Lioness Life and Spiritual Coaching. “One day when I was at home, an image came in my mind of a lion; she’s bold, courageous and fearless,” she said. “Us, as women who go through stuff, we need to know that we can rise up and go get it.”

Lindsy Bivens, the publisher and founder of The Author’s Pen, shared how working with La’Brittany on her book impacted her. “I was so moved by her authenticity, her desire to speak her truth,” Bivens said. “I commend La’Brittany for having the courage to tell [her] truth in a way that will set others free.”

When people read her book, this is what La’Brittany wants them to take away from it: “A lot of time we walk around and use phrases like I’ll see you when I get there, but we cope through our life and we carry on that mourning theme, so we do things physically, emotionally, and mentally to cope when we live our life in a coping state,” she said. “I want people to know that despite of what you went through, God is still there.”

Her book can be purchased on her website, PayPal or Amazon.
