How has your year been going so far? Do you feel like you are thriving? While thriving is being sought after this year, it’s important to focus on aligning with God’s will for your life.

I want you to start thinking like this, “If I align with God’s plan for my life, then I will thrive.” We can’t expect to thrive without FIRST aligning.

Lately, I have been seeing the theme or trend for 2025, which is thriving. However, I wonder if the theme is starting to become self-centered or one-sided. What I mean is, have we left room for God? Are we making plans and then asking God to bless them without consulting Him first? Don’t get me wrong, for many of us, we know what God has been calling us to do. Many of us are even deciding that this will be the year that we go after it. I am believing God for some big things this year. So, I am trying to adopt discipline and be unwavering in my faith and actions in this season.

Now my intent is not to make anyone feel guilty with my words. My point is that for some, we have identified that we are going back to God’s plan for our lives. We understand that realigning helps us to thrive. On the other hand, I feel like there is this sense of focusing on building our own “kingdoms.” Doing so causes us to go about life without leaning on God. Relying on your abilities or strength will only take you so far. Sooner or later, you are going to get lost or need redirection. This is why the Bible tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path,” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Now, maybe you are reading this and you feel like, wait a minute, I am aligning with God and His plan for my life. According to Bible.com, “Alignment is the place where we are positioned by coming into agreement with God.” I love this definition because it makes me think about God’s favor. He designed our lives so that we would meet the right people or be in the right position/location to be conducive to our purpose. Even when it does not feel like it. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

One of the hardest things about this definition of alignment is timing. For example, do I leave a job now or later…..do I take this new offer…..or even am I still supposed to be in relationship with people God has placed in my life? Understanding timing and how God is moving in this season and your life is key. We have to make ourselves available to move according to the prompting of God or the Holy Spirit.

Balancing our desires with what God has for our lives can be a challenge. So we must constantly check our motives, look inward, and evaluate, “why am I doing this?” Am I trying to build a life that puts me on a pedestal or at the top of the ladder? This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s thinking about our motives and if God even intended some of the things we are going after. How will you know unless you ask Him? “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you,” Matthew 6:33.

While you may find yourself taking the opportunity to reinvent yourself this year, aligning with God’s Word and His plan for your life is the only way to help you thrive. And since comparison is real, I must say, remember, it is going to look different for everyone. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Take some time to stop and evaluate where you are going and where you need to go to get to the next level of your life. I can think back to every time I felt stuck in my life or career. Nothing ever changed until I humbled myself and went to God. Remember, you will only thrive if you are willing to align with God’s vision and plan for your life. Don’t just do things because of what you want. The goal should be for God to get the glory.

If you have not done so, submit to God’s plan, His blueprint for your life, so you can thrive. I want you to walk into what God has always had for you. 🙏🏽❤️
